Learning Support Mentor

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with learning difficulties and disabilities? We are supporting an FE college who are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Mentor to join their team in the Sport and Uniformed Public Services Department. This role is based in Cambridge and offers a supportive environment where you can contribute to the empowerment and success of their students.
Role Overview:As a Learning Support Mentor, you will provide essential support to students with a range of learning challenges, including D/deaf students, those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Physical Access needs, Learning Disabilities, Visual Impairment, and Language Impairment. Your role will be pivotal in helping students access the curriculum and achieve their educational goals through enhanced independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with lecturing staff and assessors to support students in a variety of learning environments.
- Adapt educational resources to ensure they are accessible to all students.
- Promote independence and empower students to progress towards their educational achievements.
- Provide support outside the classroom, including during breaks, lunchtimes, and on educational trips.
- Maintain accurate records of student support activities and progress.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of learning support services.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has recent experience supporting individuals with special educational needs.
- Possesses qualifications such as GCSE English and Maths at grade C or 4, Level 2 Learning Support Qualification, or is working towards it.
- Demonstrates high sensitivity, empathy, and the ability to motivate and support students.
- Is computer literate and familiar with digital assisted technology.
- Is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
