Long Term Futures is seeking a calm, confident, and resilient Behaviour Mentor to support a Year 3 pupil (aged 7) with challenging behaviour in a welcoming primary school in Hammersmith & Fulham. This role is ideal for someone who has previous experience supporting children with behavioural needs and who understands the importance of trauma-informed practice in helping pupils feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.

About the Role

Working closely with the SENCo, class teacher, and pastoral team, you will play a central role in creating stability and structure for the child. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support, helping the pupil regulate emotions and remain engaged in learning.
  • Using trauma-informed approaches, de-escalation techniques, and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Supporting classroom routines, transitions, and social interactions.
  • Acting as a safe, trusted adult who can build rapport, model calm behaviour, and set clear, supportive boundaries.
  • Working with staff to adapt strategies and monitor progress.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or emotional regulation difficulties.
  • Training or strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches - highly desirable.
  • Calm, patient, and confident in de-escalation and behaviour management.
  • Reliable, positive, and able to build strong relationships quickly.
  • A proactive team player who brings resilience and a solution-focused mindset.
