Our Client, a leading design and build Contractor to the Water sector is hiring a highly capable and resilient Planning Manager to support the delivery of large, high-pressure programmes.

This is a critical hire for our Client and will involve leading a team of 10 Planners to drive the programme through planning and delivery phases. The role demands leadership, agility, and deep on-site experience, ideally with a construction background and preferably complex non-infra Water experience.

This is not a remote or desk-only role — we're looking for someone who thrives in live project environments, with real on-site experience and the ability to keep things moving under pressure.

Sites will be spanning Kent, Sussex and Hampshire and you're likely to find yourself site based at least 3 days per week with some hybrid working too.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and coordinate all planning activity across a complex delivery programme

* Manage and mentor a team of planners and project support staff

* Maintain momentum across multiple, concurrent workstreams with fixed milestone dates

* Work closely with on-site construction teams and senior delivery leaders

* Chair planning meetings and workshops with internal and external stakeholders

* Act as a trusted advisor and second-in-command to the Programme Director

* Proactively identify risks, pinch points, and opportunities to de-risk delivery

* Ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity across all planning outputs

Required Experience:

* Strong track record in construction/engineering planning at programme level

* Proven experience leading planning efforts on large, complex and time-sensitive programmes

* Excellent command of planning tools, techniques, and reporting (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)

* Comfortable operating on site and in fast-paced delivery environments

* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

* Able to lead and contribute to planning workshops, reporting cycles, and progress reviews

* Background in construction or engineering
