Role of a CAD / CAM Designer

*

Producing accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings

*

Processing designs into SmartCAM to create manufacturing programs

*

Designing and adapting bespoke tooling orders

*

Focus on cylindrical components, radii and thread profiles

*

Liaising with production staff to ensure smooth workflow

*

Supporting ongoing improvements in processes and automation

Requirements of a CAD / CAM Designer

*

Background in mechanical or precision engineering

*

Strong CAD skills, ideally with AutoCAD 2D

*

Understanding of CAM processes (SmartCAM experience beneficial)

*

Knowledge of cylindrical components, tooling or thread geometry

*

Comfortable working in a bespoke engineering environment

*

Keen to develop skills with support from senior staff and trainers
