About the Role of a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school we are working alongside to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by providing tailored support to help them reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.

• Assist in the development and delivery of personalised learning plans.

• Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour in a positive manner.

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

• Encourage social interaction and engagement in learning activities.

• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to relevant staff and parents/carers.

• Assist with classroom preparation and general administrative tasks as required.

Requirements for a SEMH Teaching Assistant:

Essential:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

• Patience, empathy, and resilience.

• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
