Applications Engineer - Rocester - £40,000 to £55,000 - 25 days holiday - Pension + Bonus and Benefits

Melbreck Technical is working with a leading designer and manufacturer of special-purpose equipment, who are located throughout the UK and have been trading for over 80 years.

They are known in their industry for innovative and quality products that last, and they have won multiple prestigious awards.

Due to a very successful 2020, and a great start to 2021, they are looking to expand their Applications Support Function to assist one of their key clients in Rocester, and as such are looking for an Applications Engineer to their team ASAP.

Applications Engineer - Role Overview and Responsibilities:

Act as a technical interface between the business and OEM on all platform applications using the businesses products.

Develop the specification/Customer Requirements Document (CRD) required for the business to quote and develop the needed product, be it new product or modified mature product.

Develop, test, release and support applicable Product Application Code.

Assist OEM in vehicle integration and system testing of products into the applicable platforms.

Work with OEM customers and the Business' Product Development and Sales and Marketing to identify, define and communicate the scope of innovative new or enhanced Standard or Custom Product opportunities.

Be responsible for Application Code development budgetary cost estimates.

Manage Project scope changes

Support Project communications

Support the customer project reporting process.

Participate in Project team meetings as required.

Participate in Project Gate Reviews and deliver presentations as required.

Cultivate attitudes of open communication and team building.

Continue to enhance skills through reading, mentoring, and training (either external or internal).

Applications Engineer- Candidate Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering or a Technologist Diploma is preferred, however consideration will be given to candidates who possess a combination of relevant education and experience

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision is required

Previous experience in vehicle electronics and/or heavy vehicle motion control would be an asset

Excellent communication and listening skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to work effectively with people at all levels of a cross-functional, inter-company team

Well-developed conflict resolution and negotiation skills

Proficiency in several of the following software development tools is required:

C / C++ / C# Code



IQAN, VMM or equivalent 'OEM proprietary' software development tools.

Linux Application development

Display GUI development tools (QT designer, Java, Crank Storyboard, etc.)

Vector CANalyser / CANoe

Basic familiarity with the following Industry Standards is required:

Safety Standards (ISO 13849 / IEC 61508 / ISO 26262)

CAN communications (SAE J1939, ISO 11783)

Environmental test specifications (ISO 7637, ISO 13766, SAE J1455, EN 60068, IEC 60529)

Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project

Applications Engineer - Hours & Benefits

08.30 to 16.30 Monday to Friday

Role requires the ability to travel, sometimes on short notice. Typical long-distance travel for this position is 2 to 3 trips per year of less than a week's duration

Role requires the ability to be on-site at customer location a minimum of 3 days per week (Rocester, Staffordshire)
