We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will work closely with patients to help them regain or develop the skills needed for daily living and working. This role requires a strong understanding of patient care, critical care environments, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals.
Duties
- Assess patients' physical and mental abilities through observation and standardised tests.
- Develop personalised treatment plans aimed at improving patients' ability to perform daily activities.
- Implement therapeutic interventions that promote independence and enhance quality of life.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists, case managers, and medical imaging specialists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, expected outcomes, and home exercises.
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary.
- Stay informed about advancements in occupational therapy practices and medical terminology relevant to patient care.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to occupational therapy.
- Experience in ICU or critical care settings is advantageous.
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques that may assist in patient assessments.
- Proficient in case management practices to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Background in speech therapy or paediatrics is beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a compassionate approach towards patient care.
