Job Title: Deputy Head of Reporting
Location: West Midlands
Day Rate: Up to £500 per day (Inside IR35)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and strategic finance professional to join a large and complex organisation in the West Midlands as Deputy Head of Reporting. This is a pivotal interim role, providing leadership across statutory and regulatory reporting, capital accounting, and tax functions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage teams responsible for statutory, regulatory, and corporate financial reporting.

*

Oversee preparation of annual statutory accounts and ensure full compliance with applicable accounting standards.

*

Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and manage audit evidence submissions.

*

Ensure accurate and timely VAT and corporation tax reporting, working with tax advisors as required.

*

Support financial planning, including cash flow forecasting and capital programme oversight.

*

Drive continuous improvements in financial systems and processes.

*

Provide clear technical accounting guidance and ensure compliance with HE SORP and related standards.

*

Deputise for the Head of Reporting as needed.

Candidate Profile

*

Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or CIMA) with substantial post-qualification experience.

*

Demonstrated success in managing high-performing finance teams in complex organisations.

*

Strong background in statutory reporting and strategic financial management.

*

Proficient in financial systems and Excel, with the ability to interpret and present complex data clearly.

*

Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

*

Experience in or with external audit firms is highly desirable.
