Housing Support Worker

JOB TYPE: Permanent, FullTime

Our client, based in North Yorkshire, is currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker on a permanent basis.


The position is due to start in March 2020. The salary is £21,166 per annum (pro rata which equates to £11,441.08).


The ideal candidate must have experience of providing support to service users with complex needs, hold an Enhanced DBS dated within three years and hold a full UK Driving License.


Duties will include (but not limited to):

• Provide generic housing related support to service users with complex needs such as homelessness, drug and alcohol, ex offender and mental health issues

• Work in a 10 bed self-contained flat and provide a high level of support to service users

• Conduct group support sessions weekly

• Provide advice on rent payment plants, benefit advice and housing applications

• Carry out risk assessments and update support plans

• Liaise with support providers, external agencies and emergency services


Experience required:

• Experience of undertaking client assessments, risk assessments, developing individual support plans, and advocacy work

• Experience of working directly with people who are homeless, and with a range of complex needs, including mental health, drug/alcohol misuse, history of offending, and those in crisis situations


Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• An understanding of the importance of client involvement and empowerment

• An awareness of agencies available to clients in the statutory and voluntary sector, and experience of working closely in partnership

• A good understanding of homelessness legislation, the housing options and welfare benefits available to clients

• Understanding of the purpose and implementation of equality and diversity, and safeguarding policies and procedures
