Contek Recruitment are currently working exclusively with a specialist manufacturing company, based in Leicester, who are currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Our client specialise in the design and manufacturing of bespoke gas struts, and damper solutions tailored to customer requirements. With a wide selection of gas struts available across various industries and sectors, our client offer comprehensive solutions for all of your motion control needs.

JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Engineering team, the Maintenance Engineer will ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of plant equipment and machinery. This includes carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role will also cover some wider business needs, such as general site maintenance and ensuring calibration records for gauges and tooling are accurate and up to date.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Deliver effective mechanical maintenance services to maximise equipment uptime.

* Maintain safe working practices in line with company policies and regulatory standards.

* Accurately record maintenance, calibration, and compliance documentation.

* Support production operations through timely, responsive maintenance activity.

* Foster a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and health & safety.

RESPONSIBILITES

* Carry out PPM and reactive repairs on mechanical plant and equipment.

* Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults across hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating systems.

* Replace, repair, and overhaul mechanical components (bearings, pumps, conveyors, motors, etc.).

* Assist with the safe installation and commissioning of new plant, tooling, and equipment.

* Maintain and update calibration records for gauges, tooling, and measuring devices.

* Liaise with suppliers and external calibration providers as required.

* Support production teams with troubleshooting to improve performance and quality.

* Provide technical guidance and advice to colleagues and operators.

* Contribute to a flexible, multi-skilled maintenance service within the business.

* Ensure compliance with company procedures and the Health & Safety at Work Act.

* Undertake any other reasonable tasks necessary for the efficiency of the business.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS (REQUIRED)

* Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or similar).

* Experience of manufacturing replacement parts and components to effect equipment repairs.

* Ability to use manual lathes, milling machines and other equipment.

* Proven experience in mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

* Practical knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.

* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS (DESIRABLE)

- Experience in general facilities or site maintenance.
- Familiarity with calibration processes and standards.
- Multi-skilled knowledge, with basic electrical awareness.
- Experience maintaining technical documentation (e.g., logs, calibration records).
