Job Description

 DQC Senior Associates (SA) and Associate Directors (AD) are ambitious learners, passionate about education, and trusted by their colleagues to adapt to the needs of the organization. This senior level position will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide leadership, guidance, and direction for all business, finance, and operational functions of the organization. The SA/AD will also serve as a strategic thought partner to DQC leadership to review accounting and operational systems, best business practices, etc., and to provide recommendations for system/process improvements.  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
 Co-lead efforts with the CFO to align organizational financial goals in support of the DQC vision, mission, objectives, goals, work plan, and activities.   Provide senior-level expertise in collaboration with the CFO to lead the organization through fundraising, strategic financial planning, and organizational growth. Includes assisting with setting financial targets to meet fundraising goals.   Serve as key liaison and collaborator with DQC staff and DQC leadership to develop and direct strategic priorities for the organization.  Lead, plan, and execute special projects regarding accounting systems, business, and operational improvements.   Oversee, lead, and direct critical accounting functions that include payables, payroll, 1099 tax reporting, and treasury functions. Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are adhered to.  Lead budget process to manage organizational five-year master budget totaling $25.0m. Includes managing functional budgets (salary, program, grants); forecasting budget projections; comparing budget-to-actual results; and providing DQC leadership and DQC directors with budget results.

 
 
 Lead and direct finance functions that includes financial reporting, cash-flow modeling, investment portfolio management, and plan sponsor 401k retirement program management.  Work collaboratively with the CFO to plan and execute the annual financial audit with external CPA firm; oversee annual federal tax filings and state information returns.  
 
Requirements & Qualifications
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
 Passionate about improving the education outcomes of all students through the increased access and use of education data.   Collaborative with the ability to flex to a range of working styles in a fast-paced adaptive environment.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   Extensive knowledge and experience in finance, accounting, auditing, budgeting, payroll, taxation, and treasury in non-profit environment.  Strong financial and budget reporting experience with ability to communicate financial data and results to various stakeholders.  Ability to develop and implement sound accounting, operational, and organizational policies, processes, and procedures.  Working knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software and Filemaker Pro databases.  Ability to analyze organizational financial results with respect to revenue, expenses, and forecasting, and compare budget-to-actual performance.  Must have strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite, esp. in Excel with extensive spreadsheet and pivot table experience.  Strong entrepreneurial focus and bottom-line orientation.  Strong organizational and multitasking skills.  Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and customer-service skills.  Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.  Attention to detail and commitment to accurate results.  Maintain a high level of confidentiality and security regarding corporate and personnel information and documents.
 
Education and Experience
 Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred, in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.  At least five (5) years progressive experience in advanced accounting, finance, budgetary, or related field required.   Experience working in nonprofit organizations.  Five years of relevant experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
