Facilities Officer

- Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday (7:30am–3:30pm)
- Contract: Temporary potential to go permanent
We are seeking a dedicated Facilities Officer to maintain safe, secure, clean, and well-functioning buildings, grounds, and facilities to support daily operations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our facilities meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and cleanliness.
Day-to-day of the role:
Site & Safety
- Carry out opening and locking duties as a key-holder.
- Monitor site security and challenge unauthorised access.
- Respond to emergencies such as fire, flood, accidents, and intrusions.
- Follow and support health & safety procedures and risk assessments.
Maintenance & Compliance
- Support statutory inspections and planned maintenance schedules.
- Action and track maintenance requests.
- Oversee contractors and check work quality.
- Keep accurate records of inspections and repairs.
Environment & Resources
- Maintain clean and safe outdoor areas.
- Manage waste disposal, including specialist waste.
- Reduce energy and water usage where possible.
- Manage stock, consumables, and equipment.
- Prepare rooms and facilities for meetings, events, and operational use.
Lettings
- Manage lettings enquiries and the bookings calendar.
- Ensure hirers follow required policies.
- Raise and track hire invoices.
Team Responsibilities
- Line manage caretaking staff, including induction, training, and performance support.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication skills and competency with basic communication technology (phone, email).
- GCSE Maths & English or equivalent.
- Reliable, organised, trustworthy, and able to work independently.
- Flexible with occasional out-of-hours work.
- Calm under pressure and adaptable.
- Comfortable with lone working.
- Fit for manual handling and confident working at heights.
- Experience maintaining large buildings.
- Clean driving licence.
- Basic maintenance skills (plumbing, electrics, grounds, cleaning).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and good record-keeping.
- Desirable: NVQ Level 2 or IWFM qualification, experience with relevant building systems, experience in a large-site environment.
