Aim: Supporting young SEN people in the Bracknell area with Science
Location: In the learner's home in Bracknell
Frequency: 5 hours per week
Duration: Sept Start, until GCSEs 2026.
Support needed -The tutor will have a degree and teaching experience and preferably experiences with SEN, ASD, experience in working with young people who are anxious. The role is 5 hours across the week to support an able learner with GCSE combined science.
Learner has a diagnosis of ASD and Anxiety
Communication & Language Needs
- Support the development of vocabulary and broaden their understanding of language across a range of contexts.
- Promote comprehension of abstract concepts.
- Develop scientific literacy an exam skills.
Cognition & Learning Needs
- The tutor will provide a highly structured, consistent and supportive learning environment, tailored to the pupil’s individual learning profile.
- To maintain engagement and focus, the tutor will incorporate the pupil’s interests in science and psychology.
- Instructions will be supported with visual resources to help with learning.
- The tutor will be carefully matched based on experience and personality to help create a safe, trusting learning environment.
- Initial sessions will be low intensity, focusing on the subject but evaluating knowledge and progress.
- The tutor will allow adequate processing time and adjust teaching methods accordingly to meet individual needs.

Aim: To support a learner not based in school with core subject tuition
Location: At the learner's residence in RG42
Frequency: 5 hours per week. Monday 10-12. Tuesday , Wednesday Friday 11-12.
Duration: Ongoing
Extra information: This role is not suitable for online. This learner does have an EHCP with diagnosis of ASD. They are currently not attending school as school cannot meet need. The learners has school based trauma and axniety and so 1:1 is the ideal situation to help this learner. The learner is academically capable.. The family are very supportive.
Key Responsibilities
- Tailor sessions to meet the needs of a learner with a complex profile
- Use trauma-informed and pupil-led approaches to foster engagement and progress
- Build strong, supportive relationships with the student to encourage confidence and participation
- Track and report on progress, adapting plans as needed to ensure continued development
Essential Requirements
- Trauma-informed teaching approach
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
- Self-employed status and right to work in the UK
- Availability during weekday daytime hours
- Reliable transport to attend in-person sessions in Bracknell.
