Our client has been established for almost half a century and are internationally recognised market leaders in the provision of computer simulation solutions associated with Corrosion, Defect Assessment and Crack Growth allied to an array of industry applications and customers across more than forty countries throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a Junior CAE Modelling / Junior Mechanical Design Engineer, able to demonstrate at least 12 months commercial experience gained within an engineering design or manufacturing environment, to complement their dynamic and professional team.

Reporting to the Engineering and R&D Manager, and based in Southampton, the successful Junior Mechanical Design Engineer candidate will develop a high level of skill and proficiency in the use of dedicated software used in both Corrosion and Fracture products, with duties including (but not limited to):

Carrying out CAE related aspects (building geometry, mesh generation, zoning) for modelling consultancy projects
Generating associated support material (e.g., issues for customer clarification etc) for specific projects and in support of the commercial team, such as demo models etc
Providing technical support services and delivering customer training courses in the use of the dedicated software solutions as required, and supporting product development activities as they arise.To be considered for this varied and challenging Junior Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant engineering, applied physics or applied mathematics discipline and able to demonstrate at least 12 months previous experience gained in the use of CAE and product development (coding) on an industry recognised platform (ideally GiD software although SolidWorks / SolidEdge or equivalent will also be considered).

You will be both confident and comfortable in working to often strict timescales and within a broadly defined brief, able to demonstrate effective time management skills in order to schedule tasks and handle multiple projects and activities at any one time, as well as being an excellent communicator at all levels (both written and verbal) and able to work both autonomously and as part of an established modelling team.

Additionally, you will possess a meticulous approach to your work with a high level of focus on accuracy, reliability and quality, and be both open and receptive to new ideas and techniques and able to constantly develop your technical skills as required with a view to becoming able to effectively carry out Corrosion and Fracture simulation, and generate reports (including technical justification of results) in the future.
