Job Summary

Hamburg Süd North America, Inc., an international ocean supply company, has an exciting opportunity for individuals who are interested in international trade and working with customers. This position is located in our Schaumburg, IL location.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking international bookings and handling global customer related activities via telephone and email.

  • Provide customers with accurate and timely cargo rates.

  • Assist with EDI bookings to terminal.

  • Receive approvals for hazardous materials to ensure cargo is handled properly.

  • Ensure all information is accurately documented in booking system.

  • Willing to work overtime based on business necessity.


  • Qualifications include:

  • Prior customer service representative work experience required.

  • Prior experience working with customers via telephone or electronic communication required.

  • Ocean carrier logistics experience preferred.

  • Qualified candidates must have excellent work ethic.

  • Enjoy working with customers.

  • Can learn systems quickly.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize are a must.

  • Familiarity with bill of ladings.

  • Hazmat experience a plus.

  • Freight forward experience a plus.

  • Must be able to handle high volume work.
