Position Description:

Seeking an immediate fill, for Java Developer (entry to mid-level), position in Washington DC.

Design, develop, and implement Java applications to support business requirements. Follows approved development methodologies, create documentation, programs and tests code. Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation. Requires a bachelor's degree and 2-6 years of experience in programming. Reports to Project Manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot web-based business applications according to local standards and industry best practices using Java/J2EE Spring and Struts frameworks, web application servers, and Solaris/Unix/Linux environment.

  • Experience with Enterprise RDBMS, such as Informix, Oracle, MySQL, DB2, or Postgres; SQL languages queries and operations; interfacing through JDBC and ORM tools such as Hibernate, JPA, or iBatis.

  • Full lifecycle documentation skills, including experience with requirements, design, test scenarios, peer review results, and deployment documents.

  • Working knowledge of shell scripting (C/Bourne/Korn/bash) or a related language (e.g., perl, Python)

  • Experience using IDEs, CM, and build tools such as Eclipse, Netbeans, Harvest, PVCS, SVN, ANT, and Maven

  • Experience with all phases of the SDLC

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills to present comprehensive technical presentations to customers, users, technicians, and others.

  • Standard design patterns and application architectures, including MVC

  • Proven experience in Initiation, Definition, Design, Programming, Testing, Deployment of new software systems and maintenance of systems written by others.

  • Experience in gathering, interpreting, and documenting user requirements, and implementing ADP systems in accordance with documented requirements and designs.

  • Experience with data modeling and normalization.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s (BS) degree in a quantitative field such as science, computer science, engineering, math, finance/accounting, or economics/econometrics.
