Cover People are recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work in primary schools across North Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young learners and help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Individualised Support: Work closely with pupils in small groups or on a one-to-one basis to support their learning and development.

Assist in Classroom Activities: Support teaching staff in delivering engaging lessons and adapting learning materials to meet the needs of the class.

Behaviour Support: Promote positive behaviour and keep children engaged through proactive strategies and clear expectations.

Foster Independence: Encourage pupils to build confidence, resilience, and independence in both personal and academic tasks.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to deliver holistic support.

Track Progress: Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teachers and relevant staff.

Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships and offer emotional and behavioural support where needed.

Key Requirements

Experience with Young People: Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, or care setting is essential. SEN experience is desirable but not required.

Passion for Education: A genuine desire to support children in reaching their full potential.

Excellent Communication: Confident working with children, staff, and parents using empathy and patience.

Team Player: Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues to provide the best support possible.

Adaptability: Responsive to the varying needs of students and able to think on your feet.

Relevant Training/Qualifications: Not essential, but training in SEN, behaviour management, or teaching assistant qualifications would be beneficial.
