A North London Council is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join its Traffic & Engineering Service. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong local authority experience and the ability to design using AutoCAD, who can confidently deliver traffic and transport schemes from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver specialist traffic engineering services, taking schemes from feasibility through to implementation.
Produce high‑quality designs using AutoCAD.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff.
Manage and oversee the development of a range of projects within the Traffic & Engineering Service.
Ensure schemes meet statutory requirements, safety standards, and council objectives.

You will contribute to a wide range of ongoing programmes, including:

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods
Bus and cycle infrastructure improvements
Road safety schemes
Parking and traffic management improvements

Requirements

Proven experience working within a local authority traffic or highways engineering team.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
Ability to manage projects independently and mentor junior colleagues.
Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, regulations, and best practice
