My client is currently looking to employ an experienced building surveyor to work as part of a team within an established team. You will play a crucial role in assessing the condition, safety, and compliance of buildings and structures. You will work closely with our clients to provide expert advice and solutions for property related matters. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in a challenging and rewarding environment. We work closely with BAE and Mitie under contracts and expect on the best quality to our clients.
We currently have a building surveyor who has worked for us for in excess of 8 years and has successfully completed work all over the world. We have of late been focussing on D&B projects for clients such as BAE and Mitie. Due to the business ever expanding, we are looking to have someone work alongside him to support and further our capabilities of D&B projects, typically taking a client issued RIBA stage 2/3 design and developing this through to a stage 4 for approval and then on to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive building surveys and inspections, producing detailed reports on property condition and compliance with relevant regulations.
* Evaluate and advise on property defects, maintenance, and repair strategies.
* Provide expert guidance on building regulations, planning permissions, and health and safety requirements.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to develop specifications and oversee construction projects.
* Assist clients with building designs, challenge design approaches to ensure they work and are best suited to the application.
* Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to provide clients with the most current advice.
Qualifications and key skills required:
* Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
* Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).
* Proven experience as a Building Surveyor.
* Strong knowledge of building regulations, codes, and construction techniques.
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
* Proficiency in using surveying tools and software.
* CAD or equivalent package experience desirable.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
* A commitment to continuous professional development.
* Good IT skills, including previous use with Microsoft Excel and Project.
* Previous experience in commercial fit out and refurbishment projects.
* Strong technical knowledge.
* Previous experience in working with NEC & JCT contracts is advantageous.
