Modern, semi-casual DC sushi restaurant seeks highly skilled General Manager to join our team. With a proven track record in DC, we are looking for a polished leader and encouraging self-starter to push our FOH team towards operational excellence. The General Manager will strive to grow the restaurant and our brand with the best management and staff by constantly improving our service while focusing on guest relations and providing unparalleled hospitality.
As a General Manager you will be proactive, forward thinking with excellent communication and organizational skills. You will have a solid history of achieving financial and service targets and experience of managing a team positively. You need to enjoy time spent on the floor, enforcing service standards and interacting with guests and staff. Ability to remain positive and follow a strong professional ethic in this role is key for this position of leadership. Salaried position 50 hours a week average.
•Organizing and overseeing the full restaurant inclusive of all service-related processes included hiring, training, steps of service, POS management, floor managing, scheduling and facilitating payroll.
•Provide direct customer engagement while adhering to standards of service; engaged, friendly and attentive customer service to all guests.
•Oversee day-to-day facilities issues as they arise.
•Ensure that all FOH staff are aware of and fulfilling their job responsibilities.
•Report FOH findings at weekly Operations Meetings.
•Be fully conversant with every aspect of the company's emergency, health, safety and fire procedures.
•Ensure you are aware of, and that you enforce all the company policies.
•Follow and adhere to all standards set forth by the DC Department of Health.
•Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported immediately and rectified.
•Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises
--Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Current/previous 3 years experience working as a Restaurant Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
•Natural leadership skills with focus on team's development, training and progression.
Strong customer service background.
•Excellent interpersonal communications and presentation skills.
•Experience in supporting the seamless running of a restaurant by providing a highly efficient and effective service.
•Ability to work effectively as part of a team and work on your own initiative, calmly and when under pressure.
•Excellent guest service skills with a background of exceeding and maintaining the guests' expectations.
•Excellent ability to solve complex problems and a strong desire to seek and implement solutions.
•Ensuring standards of service are to the agreed service level.
•Strong understanding and management ability of costs,budgeting and financial targets.
•Must be effective at listening, understanding and clarifying concerns.

•High stamina, ability to work weekends and some holidays, and flexibility with schedule.
•Demonstrates an outgoing, friendly disposition to support guest relations.
•Passionate about the DC dining scene; beverage knowledge a plus.
•Tech savvy; proficient in Google Applications specifically Gmail, Excel, Google Drive, Google Docs and Calendar;.
