A specialist school based in Basingstoke is looking to appoint a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join its team. Set within a modern and well-equipped site on the southern edge of the town, the school offers a safe and structured learning environment for pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and associated learning difficulties.

The school provides spacious classrooms, therapeutic areas, and excellent outdoor spaces designed to support both learning and wellbeing. Pupils are supported by a strong, experienced staff team who work collaboratively to promote academic progress, personal development, and emotional resilience.

Key responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils in lessons, small groups, or one-to-one sessions

Assisting with the planning and delivery of learning activities under the direction of teaching staff

Helping pupils to regulate their behaviour and emotions using established support strategies

Encouraging independence, engagement, and a positive attitude towards learning

Working closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to meet individual needs

The successful candidate will:

Be calm, compassionate and professional under pressure

Ideally have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH or SEND

Be confident in managing challenging behaviour with consistency and care

Be reliable, flexible, and committed to supporting the wellbeing and progress of every pupil

An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service is essential for this role, or you must be willing to obtain one at your own cost prior to starting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
