SEN Teaching Assistant - Alternative Provision
Location: Wellingborough
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: Competitive (based on experience)

Do you want to be the difference in a young person's life when it matters most?

A specialist alternative provision in Wellingborough is looking for compassionate, committed, and confident SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team this September. This school provides vital support for students aged 11-16 who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.

This is more than a classroom role-it's an opportunity to be a mentor, a motivator, and a source of stability for students navigating significant challenges.

Your Role Will Involve:

Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups with a focus on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs

Helping students to re-engage with education through patience, structure, and consistency

Collaborating with teachers and behaviour mentors to deliver bespoke interventions

Promoting positive behaviour through de-escalation and relationship building

Encouraging resilience, emotional regulation, and self-confidence in each pupil

Contributing to a therapeutic and inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe and valued

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Is passionate about making education accessible and meaningful for all students

Demonstrates empathy, emotional resilience, and consistency in challenging situations

Has experience working with young people in education, care, or community settings (desirable but not essential - training is provided)

Understands or is keen to learn about trauma-informed practice and behaviour support

Can work flexibly as part of a dedicated and experienced multidisciplinary team

What's in it for You?

A fulfilling, long-term role with potential for a permanent position

Ongoing access to high-quality training including behaviour management and SEN strategies

Weekly pay and career progression opportunities

A supportive working environment where staff wellbeing is prioritised

The chance to shape the future of young people who need guidance, trust, and a fresh start

Training and Development with Tradewind:
Through Tradewind, you'll have access to over 2,500 CPD-certified courses via The National College. These include training in safeguarding, SEND, restorative practice, and trauma-informed teaching-all at no cost to you.

If you believe that every student deserves a second chance-and you're ready to be part of that journey-we'd love to hear from you.
