The Ophthalmology department is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to join their team full-time located in Everett on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7:00am- 5:30pm.
The Ophthalmic Assistant functions as an integral member of the Ophthalmology team and is responsible for:
Assisting with the scheduling of appointments, tests, treatments and/or surgeries. Escorting patients from the reception area to exam room and performing a variety of ocular testing. Assisting with the coordination of patient care services.
The Ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for and not limited to:
- Screens telephone calls for appointment priority and schedules appointments.
- Maintains patient records.
- Rooms patients and prepares them for exam and takes patient history.
- Performs ocular testing and visual assessments.
- Assists physician in preparing for minor surgeries.
- Applies ocular dressings and provides patient with instruction on after-care procedures. process.
Preferred Experience and Credentials:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Clinical experience in a physician’s practice preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and general eye anatomy required
- Training and competence in refracting, tonometry, testing and basic vision screening
