Our client, an established engineering consultancy, require an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team working on aerospace systems, particularly casting & machining processes.

This role will involve travel across the UK and EU to various customer sites. Travel costs will be reimbursed.

What the role of the Manufacturing Engineer entails:

Develop and optimises casting processes to ensure stable production, high yield, and metallurgical conformity for blades and vanes.
Validate machining operations by defining cutting parameters, tooling strategies, and process controls for consistent dimensional accuracy.
Good Knowledge of Casting and machining process of turbine blade and vanes
Lead FAIr and process qualification activities such as PFMEA, control plans, capability studies, and run-at-rate to ensure manufacturing readiness.
Troubleshoot process issues across casting and machining to eliminate defects, reduce variation, and improve first-time-right performance.
Collaborate with suppliers to resolve casting or machining problems and enhance process capability throughout the supply chain.
Ensure compliance to aerospace standards by maintaining robust processes aligned with quality, special process, and configuration requirements.

What experience you need to be the successful Manufacturing Engineer:

Good knowledge on various manufacturing processes
Fully conversant in reading and understanding Engineering & Manufacturing Drawings
Sound knowledge interpreting the GD&T (standards ASME Y 14.5, JES 161)
Sound knowledge in measurements system analysis (MSA)
Hands on experience in using all types of measuring & testing equipment, both contact - non-contact, analogue & digital
Able to support root cause analysis and implementation of problem solving techniques like 8D
Working knowledge and experience of using QC tools and SPC analysis
Hands on experience of working in CFTs for creation of PFMEA and control plans
Working knowledge on concessions, containment procedures and traceability techniques
Sound knowledge and experience of working on FAIR, APQP, PPAP
Awareness of aerospace requirements (AS9100, various ISO)
