About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Support Worker to join our educational setting in Blackburn. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health needs.

You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to provide tailored support, helping students to engage positively with learning and develop essential life skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needsBuild positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional well-beingAssist in the development and implementation of individual support plansSupport students in managing behaviour in line with school policiesEncourage engagement in learning and promote a positive classroom environmentMonitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriateWork collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in education or similar settings)A calm, patient, and empathetic approachStrong communication and interpersonal skillsThe ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and effectivelyA genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learnersRelevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
