Payroll Officer – Local Authority | Maidenhead (Remote Options Available!)
Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm Location: Maidenhead | Hybrid – Fully remote considered for the right candidate Pay:
- PAYE: £15.00 – £17.33 per hour
- Ltd/Umbrella: £20.22 – £22.47 per hour(Rates dependent on experience) Contract: Until July 2026, with possible extension
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Payroll Officer to join a busy local authority team in Maidenhead. You will play an essential role in delivering a professional HR & Payroll service, providing first-line support for payroll queries, and processing payrolls for a designated area.

Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on time for allocated employees
- Act as first-line support for payroll-related queries
- Support the wider HR team with Payroll & Employee Benefits operations
- Maintain compliance with Local Government and Teachers’ terms and conditions, employment legislation, and pension scheme regulations
- Use iTrent HR & Payroll systems for day-to-day payroll operations
Essential Requirements
Strong payroll background Experience in Local Authority payrollOR significant experience using iTrent Payroll Knowledge of Local Government & Teachers’ pay, terms & conditions, and pensions Proficiency with iTrent HR & Payroll System (essential if no LA experience) Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
