Highways Area Service Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Infrastructure Manager to oversee the design, procurement, and construction management of highway infrastructure maintenance and winter service programmes. This role is crucial for ensuring that all projects align with statutory obligations, policies, standards, and specifications, with a particular emphasis on highway drainage.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Manage a team responsible for the maintenance and management of highway infrastructure.
- Coordinate the procurement of materials, contractors, and consultants for highway projects.
- Control and manage budgets, including the responsibility for assigned budgets and contractual payments.
- Deliver high-quality highways maintenance and winter services to ensure cost-effective maintenance.
- Develop and manage maintenance programmes for highways infrastructure assets, both planned and reactive, using internal and external suppliers.
- Ensure the health and safety of staff and operations at the depot.
- Oversee the procurement and performance management of internal and external suppliers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven ability to interpret and implement corporate vision and values through effective policies and strategies.
- Strong management skills with the ability to monitor performance and set clear objectives.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring staff to foster a high-performance culture.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, capable of developing productive working relationships and resolving conflicts.
- Proficient in producing detailed reports, developing business cases, and delivering presentations.
- Skilled in negotiation with professionals from various sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations related to highway works.
- Familiarity with CDM and street works legislation.
- Extensive experience in highway winter services and managing services across geographical areas.
