A growing and dynamic freight forwarding business based near Upminster, Essex is seeking an experienced Import Operator to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with air and/or ocean import experience who is looking to develop their career and progress into a leadership role over time.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing import shipments from start to finish, ensuring a smooth and efficient process while maintaining high levels of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handling air and/or ocean import shipments from arrival through to final delivery
• Completing customs entries and liaising with relevant authorities
• Coordinating with overseas agents, airlines, and shipping lines
• Arranging deliveries and working closely with transport providers
• Providing excellent customer service and regular shipment updates
• Ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant

About You

• Previous experience in air or ocean import operations (freight forwarding essential)
• Knowledge of customs procedures and import documentation
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple shipments
• A proactive attitude with a desire to grow into a senior/lead role
