Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Food Commodity Trader to join their team in Mauritius. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the food commodities market, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record in trading and procurement.

Responsibilities:

• Source and trade a variety of food commodities, both locally and internationally.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, and logistics partners.

• Monitor market trends, prices, and supply-demand dynamics to identify trading opportunities.

• Negotiate contracts and terms of trade to maximize profitability.

• Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of goods.

• Prepare regular reports on market conditions, trade performance, and risk exposure.

• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company policies.

• Identify new markets and opportunities for business growth.

• Strong knowledge of food commodities and global trade practices.

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data.

• Proficient in using trading platforms and Microsoft Office tools.

• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Fluency in English and French is an advantage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in commodity trading, preferably in the food sector.

• Knowledge of international trade regulations and documentation.

• A strong network of industry contacts is a plus.
