Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Food Commodity Trader to join their team in Mauritius. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the food commodities market, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record in trading and procurement.
Responsibilities:
Source and trade a variety of food commodities, both locally and internationally.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, and logistics partners.
Monitor market trends, prices, and supply-demand dynamics to identify trading opportunities.
Negotiate contracts and terms of trade to maximize profitability.
Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of goods.
Prepare regular reports on market conditions, trade performance, and risk exposure.
Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company policies.
Identify new markets and opportunities for business growth.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of food commodities and global trade practices.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data.
Proficient in using trading platforms and Microsoft Office tools.
Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Fluency in English and French is an advantage.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in commodity trading, preferably in the food sector.
Knowledge of international trade regulations and documentation.
A strong network of industry contacts is a plus.
