Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team, committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will support students’ learning, assist teachers and senior leaders, and contribute to the school’s commitment to high standards of education and care. You will have a specialism in Maths or English to be able to specifically support those departments in school. 

Day to day of the role:
  • Provide learning support to students, both in group settings and individually, to enhance their educational experience.
  • Assist teachers with classroom preparation and delivery of lessons.
  • Support senior leaders with the implementation of school policies and initiatives.
  • Utilise effective IT skills to support learning and administrative tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with students, clarifying and explaining instructions.
  • Motivate and encourage students to engage with their learning.
  • Perform routine tasks under the direction of a teacher, including basic administration.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies.
  • Anticipate curriculum development needs and assist with the organisation of the learning environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good general level of education, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with young people and evidence of successful team working.
  • Classroom experience is highly desirable.
  • Foundation Certificate of Professional Practice for TAs or TA/LSA qualification at NVQ Level 2 is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of current issues in SEN education and experience working within education are desirable.
  • Personal and professional attributes such as initiative, patience, commitment, good organisational and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to communicate and make decisions effectively, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility, responsiveness to change, and the ability to motivate others.
