Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you want to play a meaningful role in helping students with autism and learning difficulties reach their full potential?

We are working with a warm and welcoming Special Needs School in the Borough of Hounslow that supports pupils aged 4–16, primarily with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD). They are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join their team immediately.

This is a highly rewarding role within a nurturing school that is committed to promoting inclusion, independence, and emotional development for all pupils.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be a vital member of the classroom team, providing both academic and emotional support to students with complex needs. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • One-to-One Support: Offer tailored support to individual pupils, helping them access the curriculum and develop at their own pace.
  • Small Group Work: Facilitate structured group activities, promoting communication, social interaction, and cooperative learning.
  • Curriculum Adaptation: Assist in modifying learning materials and classroom resources to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Emotional & Behaviour Support: Use de-escalation and regulation strategies to support pupils with emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Progress Monitoring: Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), helping track student progress and outcomes.
  • Life Skills Development: Encourage pupils to develop essential life skills including communication, personal care, and independence.
  • Inclusive Practice: Champion an inclusive approach, encouraging positive peer relationships and supporting integration into classroom activities.
  • Family and Team Collaboration: Work closely with families and professionals to ensure consistent, wraparound support.
What We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with experience supporting students with SEN, especially those who have worked with children with Autism, Learning Difficulties, or SEMH needs.

You’ll Need:
  • Experience as an LSA, SEN TA, or similar role within a school or SEN provision.
  • A deep passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and emotional resilience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Confidence in using behaviour management strategies and supporting pupils with complex communication needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
