Full Time | Term Time Only | October 2025 StartUp to £135 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)

Long Term Futures are working with a large, inclusive secondary school to appoint a Deputy Head of Year for Year 8 to start from October 2025.

This is a non-teaching role with a strong focus on pastoral care, behaviour management and attendance support. You'll work closely with the Head of Year, safeguarding leads, and wider support staff to ensure that students in Year 8 are thriving both academically and emotionally.

The role is ideally suited to someone with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or extensive school-based experience in pastoral leadership, behaviour mentoring, or inclusion roles.

Key Responsibilities:* Provide pastoral care and behaviour support for Year 8 pupils* Monitor attendance, punctuality and engagement, intervening early when needed* Support the reintegration of students following absence or behavioural incidents* Build strong relationships with students, families, and teaching staff* Liaise with the safeguarding and SEN teams to ensure joined-up support* Contribute to behaviour plans, progress reports and pastoral tracking

Ideal Candidate Will Have:* QTS or significant experience in a secondary pastoral or behaviour support role* Strong understanding of KS3 challenges, student wellbeing and inclusion* Excellent communication and behaviour management skills* Experience working with multi-agency teams and safeguarding structures* A calm, approachable and consistent presence for students and staff

Location and Transport - East London / North London / Flexible Boroughs* Easily commutable via Tube, Overground and local bus routes* Locations will vary depending on school - accessible boroughs include Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest, Islington, Tower Hamlets, etc.* Staff parking available at most sites
