Civil Engineer - Highways & Infrastructure

An established and growing transport planning and infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer to join their team in Gateshead.

The business operates across multiple UK offices and delivers transport planning, highways design, drainage and development infrastructure solutions for a wide range of private developers and public sector clients. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of development projects while progressing within a collaborative consultancy environment.

The Role
You will play a key role in the design and delivery of highways infrastructure projects, supporting schemes from concept through to detailed design and approval.
Responsibilities include:

Delivering Section 278 and Section 38 highways design projects
Preparing and reviewing technical drawings, designs and reports
Ensuring designs comply with DMRB, MCHW and local authority standards
Managing project delivery to programme and budget
Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders
Supporting the wider team with projects across multiple offices
Promoting innovation, quality and continuous improvement
Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and health & safety requirements

Requirements
Essential

Experience delivering Section 278 / Section 38 highway schemes
Strong highways design experience
Working knowledge of DMRB and relevant highway standards
Experience delivering projects to programme and budget
Proficiency with Civil 3D
Ability to work independently and provide technical input to clients
Desirable

Experience preparing cost estimates
Membership of a relevant professional institution
Full UK driving licence
