Hours: 37 hours per week

About the role

The role will involve preparing tools, equipment, and resources for students on study programs and apprenticeship standards. You will be required to monitor and lead on the supervision of workshops, including health and safety systems and processes. You will have a keen eye for general housekeeping procedures which sets high expectations for colleagues and students. You will work closely with the Head of Curriculum and the Carpentry and Joinery team to establish a 'just in time' order process of materials and supplies.

The role also includes the opportunity to contribute to our teaching programme.  If you are interested in developing your skills then we will support your development through additional training and provide you with opportunities to contribute to other roles across the department. The role of Learning Technician provides an excellent opportunity for those looking to progress and develop their career in education.

About the Person

You will have strong industry skills and a wealth of experience of Carpentry and Joinery practices. Experience of using wood working machinery and handheld power tools is essential.  You should be self-motivated and able to work with young people in a supportive and instructive manner. You will have a flexible approach and be able to work as part of a team, supporting the quality of teaching and learning and work closely with teaching staff. You will be required to complete forklift training either prior to starting the role or within one month (unless you already hold a training certificate for this).

Salary and Benefits

Salary is up to £19,290 per annum, with the opportunity to earn up to £22.87 per hour if additional teaching is undertaken.

Our benefits package includes: 

43 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays and efficiency closures)

Generous Occupational Pension Scheme - employer contribution of 19.5%
