What you’ll be doing in this SEN TA role

You’ll be supporting pupils with a variety of needs, which may include:

  • Autism and communication differences
  • Global developmental delay or cognitive learning needs
  • SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) challenges
  • Sensory processing needs
  • Non-verbal or limited-communication pupils
  • Physical or mobility requirements

Your day-to-day role may involve:

  • Providing 1:1 support in line with individual learning plans
  • Supporting pupils in small groups during structured activities and interventions
  • Using visual supports, communication aids and personalised strategies
  • Helping pupils regulate emotions using positive, trauma-informed approaches
  • Encouraging engagement with learning, routines and social activities
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to provide a consistent and joined-up approach
  • Creating a safe, calm and nurturing environment where every child feels understood and included

What we’re looking for

You do not need previous school-based SEN experience — we welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including:

  • Care or residential settings
  • Support work or mental health roles
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Coaching or personal training
  • Health and social care

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Patient, understanding and emotionally resilient
  • Confident supporting pupils with communication, behaviour or sensory needs
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a dedicated team
  • Compassionate, reliable and committed to helping children succeed
  • Willing to take part in training and develop specialist SEN skills

An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one) is required.
