Overview:

First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Utilities Operative / Network Fitter to join their team in Redhill.

The Utilities Operative will safely repair, maintain, and replace the potable water mains network consisting of all sizes of communication pipes, mains, and ancillary apparatus. They will also provide the highest standard of service to customers at all times, in order to ensure that customers are provided with the service they deserve, upholding the company's values of Service, Integrity, Collaboration, Commitment, Compassion and Innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Excavation and repair of all sizes of pipe and ancillary apparatus within the water mains network.
Maintaining the highest standards of customer, health, safety, environmental and quality standards on site.
Ensure that the road user and other interested parties are given full consideration and respect at all times.
Site based risk assessments.
Loading and unloading materials, backfilling and reinstatement excavations.
Photographing and recording all aspects of work carried out on site including site layout, site conditions, road type, time on site, size of excavation, materials used etc.
To undertake emergency 24 hour callout/standby cover as part of the rostered arrangement.
Daily routine checks and maintenance of plant and vehicles.
Assistance with tidying the Redhill yard.
To undertake such other duties as the Company may from time to time reasonably require.
Day to day responsibility for Trainee Utilities Operative.
Working outside in all weather conditions, requiring personal protective clothing.
Hard manual work with high degree of effort.
Participation in a standby rota requiring work out of hours and at weekends.
A uniform is provided and expected to be worn on all shifts and company business.

Skills and Experience:

Experience of working in a similar environment.
Must live within a one hour drive (max) of Redhill.
EUSR Water Hygiene Card.
NRSWA Streetworks Qualification including signing, lighting and guarding.
Emergency first aid at work.
Abrasive wheels.
Manual handing.
Confined space awareness.
Risk assessment training.
Trench timbering techniques [desirable].
Use of cable avoidance tools [desirable].
Class A driving licence.
LGV Cat C1 driving licence [desirable].
LGV/CPC theory [desirable].
Spill response [desirable].
Asbestos awareness [desirable].
Willingness to learn.
Physically fit.
Polite and responsive to any customer concerns.
Compliance with and respect for H&S rules and regulations..
Pride in work quality and standards.
Willingness to help others learn.
Flexible attitude towards work.

In return our client offers:

A salary of £27,295 to £30,823.
Shift and overtime payment (up to £17,000).
