This is a great chance to join a recently opened nursery close to Woolwich as a Deputy Manager. The nursery is well served by local transport links including train and bus routes and benefits from a ground up purpose-built design to enrich the childrens’ environment and experiences.

The nursery has been custom designed, in line with sustainability principles, and will has places for 0-5 year olds. The beautiful garden will present opportunities for outdoor learning, and the shiny new kitchen will provide healthy, nutritious meals and snacks every day.

You will support the Nursery Manager in the smooth running of the nursery. This will involve helping support and develop the team, as well as assisting with nursery finances, staffing rota, health and safety, partnering with parents, and ensuring the quality of the curriculum.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the children are happy, safe and that their individual needs are met
  • Foster open communication with the team, parents and caregivers and address any concerns or feedback, and create a positive connection and contribute to the local community
  • Ensure that all team members understand their roles, responsibilities, and the nursery's goals. This includes monitoring staff performance, offering guidance, and encouraging a positive and supportive work environment
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursery policies and procedure
  • Efficiently assisting with the administrative aspects of the nursery, including budget management, resource allocation, record-keeping, policy implementation, and organising parent-teacher meetings and events
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  • Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification
  • Experience of leading a team in a nursery setting
  • A solid understanding of child development, early childhood education principles, and best practices for teaching and caring for young children
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide nursery staff, set expectations, and maintain a positive working environment
  • Proficiency in nursery administration, including record-keeping, budget management, and policy development
