Hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 (no sleeps)

I am recruiting on behalf of a growing children's residential provider for a Deputy Manager to work alongisde the Registerd Manager to lead a existing 3-bed EBD home.

The organisation's priority is simple: delivering exceptional, consistent, and therapeutic care tailored to the individual child. This is not volume-driven care. The focus is stability, relationships, and outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager ready to step up, who leads with warmth, accountability, and high standards.

The Role

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality residential care for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). You will play a key role in ensuring the home operates safely, effectively, and in line with Ofsted and Children's Homes Regulations, while fostering a nurturing and structured environment that promotes each child's development.

You will:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership and operational management of the home
  • Supervise, support, and develop the staff team through regular supervision, appraisals, and mentoring
  • Ensure the delivery of personalised care plans and therapeutic support tailored to each child's needs
  • Oversee safeguarding procedures, risk assessments, and compliance with policies and regulations
  • Maintain high standards of documentation, reporting, and communication with staff, families, and external agencies
  • Support the management of budgets, resources, and rostering to meet the children's needs
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and embedding best practice across the home
  • Promote positive relationships with children, supporting their emotional wellbeing, education, and social development

Essential Criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People (or equivalent)
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to complete)
  • Willingness to register with Ofsted
  • Minimum two years' experience in children's residential care within the past five years
  • Minimum one year's leadership/supervisory experience in a care setting
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and safer recruitment understanding
  • Experience managing Ofsted compliance and inspections
  • Excellent leadership and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • IT proficiency (Microsoft packages)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Full UK driving licence
