Credit Controller
Location: Bromborough, Wirral
Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00

We're working with a leading commercial waste management business that is continuing to expand and now requires an experienced Credit Controller to strengthen its finance team. This is a key role where you'll take ownership of your own ledger, ensuring cash is collected promptly, debt is minimised, and strong working relationships with customers are maintained.

What You'll Be Doing

* Managing a set portfolio of customer accounts, making sure payments are received within agreed terms.

* Building relationships with clients to encourage timely payments while maintaining a professional approach.

* Handling a large volume of calls and emails to chase overdue invoices.

* Keeping account records accurate and up to date to prevent delays with invoicing or statements.

* Recording all credit control activity in the finance system (Credit Hound).

* Processing card payments and setting up direct debit instructions.

* Producing and sending copy invoices and statements when needed.

* Reconciling customer accounts and dealing with queries through the internal query management system.

* Highlighting and escalating any problem accounts to the Credit Control Team Leader.

About You

We're looking for someone proactive, confident, and organised, with a proven track record in credit control. You'll be comfortable working in a busy environment and enjoy problem solving while keeping customer service front of mind.

You'll bring:

* At least 2 years' experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role.

* Strong communication skills - both on the phone and in writing.

* A confident, professional approach when handling difficult conversations.

* Good knowledge of Excel and experience using finance/accounting software.

* Ability to work to targets, reduce aged debt, and keep bad debt to a minimum.

It would be great if you also have:

* ICM Level 3 or similar qualification.

* Knowledge of Sage, Credit Hound, AMCS, or customer portals such as ProActis/Tradex.

* Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
