Job Title: Town PlannerLocation: Reading

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading housebuilder in their search for a Town Planner to join their team in Reading.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Town Planner to work on a variety of residential development projects, gaining exposure to all stages of the planning process from initial site appraisal to application submission and determination. You will work within a collaborative team and have the chance to develop both technical and client-facing skills.

THE ROLE

As a Town Planner, you will manage your own planning applications while supporting senior colleagues on larger schemes. You will provide advice to project teams, engage with Local Planning Authorities, and contribute to delivering high-quality planning outcomes for the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing planning applications from start to finish
• Preparing high-quality planning reports and supporting documents
• Conducting site appraisals and planning policy research
• Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and other stakeholders
• Supporting senior planners on larger, more complex developments
• Attending internal and client meetings
• Assisting with project coordination and delivery

The Town Planner will be an integral part of the team, helping to shape planning strategies and contribute to the successful delivery of residential projects across the Reading area.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
• MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
• Experience within a planning consultancy or in-house planning role desirable
• Good understanding of the UK planning system
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management abilities
• Proactive and commercially aware mindset
