About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Power Press Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team at our Bootle facility. This is a day shift position offering a competitive salary of £47,500. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of power presses, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on power presses in accordance with HSG236 guidance for power press safety.

  • Ensure all power presses are maintained to the required safety standards and are safe to operate.

  • Conduct thorough examinations and maintenance checks on press tools, guards, safety systems, and associated equipment.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records in line with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on power presses and implement effective repairs.

  • Support production teams by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimising downtime.

  • When not working on power presses, assist the wider maintenance team with servicing, repairing, and improving other production machinery across the site.

  • Participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules across manufacturing equipment.

  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to continuously improve machine reliability and safety.

  • Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing power presses in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of safety requirements and inspection procedures for power presses, including compliance with HSG236.

  • Mechanical maintenance background (electrical knowledge is advantageous).

  • Experience with fault finding, preventative maintenance, and machinery repair.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe systems of work.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Desirable Skills

  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering.

  • Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.

  • Familiarity with general production machinery including conveyors, automated equipment, and packaging lines.
