Great opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Surveyor or Building Surveyor to join a leading Housing provider and being an integral part of their team that ensures their Tenants get a great service and great places to live.
The Role
This position delivers a broad range of technical surveying support, with a strong emphasis on the effective and timely delivery of maintenance services.
You’ll be the go-to specialist for investigating challenging property issues—including building defects, damp & Mould and cases of disrepair—raised by customers or internal teams.
The role also involves offering day-to-day technical guidance on construction, repairs, maintenance methods and design solutions to colleagues, contractors, and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out surveys and inspections, diagnosing causes of damp, mould and condensation, and recommending practical, long-term solutions.
- Produce detailed reports, technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents for a wide range of maintenance and repair projects, including cost estimates and working drawings.
- Oversee works on site, ensuring they are delivered safely, to specification, on time and within budget, while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
- Manage maintenance contracts through site visits, liaison with contractors, consultants, and other professionals to ensure compliance with CDM requirements, quality standards, timelines, and cost constraints.
- Keep property and asset information accurate and up to date across internal systems.
- Maintain strong local insight into customer needs, asset condition, and investment priorities.
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development to keep your technical knowledge current.
What You’ll Need
- A degree or recognised vocational qualification in a construction-related field or solid experience in this field
- Strong understanding of damp and mould causation, HHSRS, and the requirements linked to Awaab’s Law.
- Current knowledge of legislation, standards, and best practice related to maintenance service delivery.
- Ability to produce, interpret and work with specifications and schedules of work, whether bespoke or based on standard SORs/SORW frameworks.
- Skilled in planning, monitoring and forecasting safe, customer-focused work delivery within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to operate efficiently within a cost-controlled environment.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to maintenance activities.
- Competence in IT systems, including the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel at intermediate level).
- Willingness and ability to travel for site visits, with access to a car and a full UK driving licence.
- Ability to pass a basic DBS check.
