Commercial Depot Manager – Municipal Contracts (Melton & Rutland)

Salary: £55,000.00 - £60,000 + car + bonus + benefits

Are you a strategic leader with a passion for operational excellence? We’re seeking a Senior Business Manager to take charge of our client’s municipal contracts in Melton Mowbray and Rutland. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on delivering high-quality services, driving performance, and building strong client relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing

Drive Financial Success: Achieve budget targets and weekly KPIs, taking swift action to address any shortfalls.

Champion Compliance & Safety: Ensure full compliance with legal, company, and health & safety standards for staff and visitors.

Lead & Develop Teams: Manage and support contract staff, reduce turnover, and lead recruitment, training, and development efforts.

Enhance Service Delivery: Monitor and improve service standards to exceed client expectations.

Optimise Operations: Oversee workshop activities to maximise vehicle uptime and resource efficiency.

Build Client Relationships: Maintain strong, collaborative partnerships and manage service transitions smoothly.

Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong partnerships with clients and manage service changes smoothly.

Lead Continuous Improvement: Drive contract improvements, including route optimisation and workforce planning.

Ensure Financial Accuracy: Oversee invoicing, payments, and reporting to maintain financial integrity and contract compliance.

What We’re Looking For

Proven Leadership: Strong background in general and operational management, especially with multi-skilled and unionised teams.

Commercial Acumen: Experience in P&L management, tendering, and contract mobilisation.

Health & Safety Expertise: Solid understanding of H&S compliance, ideally within the waste management sector.

Change Management Skills: Ability to lead change, boost performance, and streamline operations.

Qualifications:

Required: CPC and COTC

Desirable: NVQ Level 4+ in Business Management, IOSH, WAMITAB Level 4, and experience in municipal waste operations
