We are proud to be supporting a small growing practice in Sheffield who requires an AAT level 4- or 3-years relevant experience to join their team as a qualified Book-keeper. This is a FT permanent position and the right candidate will be responsible for client work including bookkeeping and tax accounting areas as delegated by manager. To ensure accuracy and completeness of work with attention to detail, while at the same time maintaining productivity. It would be an advantage if you have experience of using Xero however, training will be given. A candidate from a practice background would be an advantage. Duties and Responsibilities: Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, sales and purchase ledgers. • Reconciliation reports completed accurately and distributed in a timely manner. • Prep month end journals (i.e. prepayments, accruals, wages, etc) to maintain Balance Sheet to Final TB • Accuracy and completeness. Final Accounts • Complete Month 12 Work Papers with supporting documentation to pass to accountant and process any adjustments in Xero • Other Year End duties including Tax calculations • Work papers passed to internal/external accountant within 2 months of client year end Bookkeeping • Data entry of bank details, income and expenses. • Records kept up to date. Frequency as required by contract. • Accuracy and completeness. • Maintain general journal and general ledger, including Receivables and Payables. • Records kept up to date. Other • Prepare VAT reconciliations, based on computer records against client records. • VAT returns issued to client for approval in timely manner and submitted by deadline Person Specification: Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar role or in a practice environment • Balance Sheet Reconciliation and/or experience of management accounts with Month end journals • High level of computer literacy, i.e. ability to navigate around a computer and access email, Internet and strong Excel skills • Organisational skills with high attention to detail • Good understanding of the accounting industry • understanding of accounting software programs • Ability to manage workload and complete reports to a set deadline • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team • Knowledge of VAT or industry specific financial legislative requirements or ability to learn Benefits: £19,000 - £20,000 Free parking 28 days holidays plus additional 5-6 at Christmas (office is closed for the festive period).
