Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 (dependent on experience, flexibility for the right candidate)

Overview

An established and growing environmental consultancy is looking to appoint a BNG Consultant to join a dedicated Biodiversity Net Gain team. This role would suit either an early-career ecologist with hands-on BNG exposure who wants to specialise further, or an individual already working within a BNG-focused role looking to deepen their technical expertise.

You will join a collaborative team of BNG specialists, supporting the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain assessments across a range of development projects, with clear scope for progression as the service line continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain assessments in line with current legislation and best practice

Assisting with habitat condition assessments, baseline calculations and BNG metric inputs

Contributing to BNG reports, technical notes and supporting documentation

Liaising with internal teams, planners and external stakeholders where required

Undertaking site visits as part of project delivery

Developing technical capability with the aim of progressing into a specialist BNG role

Candidate Requirements

1-2 years' experience in ecology or environmental consultancy with exposure to BNG work

Current experience working in a Biodiversity Net Gain-focused role

Understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain principles and the BNG Metric

Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline

Full UK driving licence or ability to attend site visits

Keen interest in specialising within Biodiversity Net Gain
