We haven’t seen a senior underwriting opportunity as attractive as this in the Yorkshire market for some time.
As a result of ongoing business growth, as well as succession planning, this market-leading, global insurance business has a rare opening for an Assistant Underwriting Manager within its Leeds office.
This opportunity is particularly exciting as the company sees the successful candidate being promoted into more senior positions in due course, which will obviously attract even higher earnings and increased responsibilities.
This is a varied and challenging role, where duties will include, but certainly not be limited to, delivering underwriting performance levels set by the committee and board, overseeing and monitoring underwriting processes throughout the company, and managing the relationships with a number of high-profile clients – some of the most well-known brands in the world.
You will come from a technical general insurance background (Underwriting/ Actuarial, Pricing/ Analyst etc), however, our client is not too concerned about specific product knowledge, as full training will be provided on their insurance product suite.
You must be highly numerate and analytical, and you will have a strong academic background. Just as importantly, you will also have first-class communication skills (both written and verbal), with the ability to operate effectively in high level meetings.
It is not essential that you have previously managed people, but we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about doing so moving forward. As such, you will be approachable, credible, a team player, and passionate about getting the best out of others.
You will enjoy working for a prestigious business that is renowned for being a true expert within its market. Moreover, you will be working for a very financially-secure firm that has a long history of delivering substantial underwriting profit. Given the size of the organisation, there are a wide range of career advancement opportunities, both locally and internationally.
The company operates a hybrid-working scheme, allowing you to work a portion of your time from home, although you will of course be welcome in the office as much as you like!
You will be rewarded with a basic salary of up to £85K together with a comprehensive range of company benefits including a 30% annual bonus.
