Our client, a prestigious College in Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a full-time, fixed-term Junior Electrician to join the Maintenance Team.

Junior Electrician

Location: St Andrew's Street, Cambridge, CB2 (and all property owned by the College in and around Cambridge)

Salary: £25,880 - £26,745 per annum (Spine Points 25-27)

Hours: Full-time, 36.5 hours per week

Contract: 2 years, Fixed-Term

This role will appeal to newly qualified or nearly qualified electricians looking to expand their knowledge and experience in an environment that is always changing.

This role involves working within a small College Maintenance Team rectifying electrical faults, emergency light testing and repairs, portable appliance testing, lamp changes and repairs to domestic appliances.

Essential Requirements

  • Newly qualified Electrician in Domestic and/or Commercial work
  • City & Guilds or NVQ 2/3 qualified
  • Familiar with 18th Edition of BS7671
  • Full Manual Driving Licence
  • Able to use IT Systems (Word, Outlook Etc)
  • Attend out of hours call-outs (Particularly when other electricians are on holiday)
  • Able to work unsupervised when necessary

Specific Duties (non-exhaustive):

  • Emergency lighting testing and repairs.
  • Portable Appliance Testing.
  • Replacement of lighting lamps and tubes.
  • Repair of electrical appliances.
  • Fault finding and repair of electrical installations and equipment.
  • Fire alarm testing and repairs.
  • General electrical fault repairs as reported on the intranet fault system.
  • Installation and certification of electrical systems in accordance with the current IET Wiring Regulations.
