Adult Social Worker - Contact & Assessment Team
Location: Cardiff - Various locations
Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week, 12 week contract - potential to be extended
Rate: £24.56 UMB per hour (£18.85 PAYE)

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Adult Social Worker to join a busy Contact & Assessment Team within Adult Services for Cardiff Council.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work with vulnerable adults, supporting them to maintain independence, manage risk, and access appropriate services. You will play a key role at the front door of services, undertaking assessments, managing referrals, and ensuring safeguarding responsibilities are met.

 Key Responsibilities
Undertake assessments of need, risk, and eligibility in line with current legislation
Manage a varied caseload, prioritising competing demands effectively
Work within safeguarding frameworks to protect vulnerable adults
Develop and implement care and support plans
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners and internal teams
Participate in duty rotas and decision-making forums
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and reports
Monitor and review care packages to ensure positive outcomes
 Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with relevant degree or equivalent
Current registration with Social Care Wales
Strong working knowledge of:

The Social Services and Wellbeing Act
The Mental Capacity Act (MCA)
Adult safeguarding procedures
Experience managing complex caseloads within adult services
Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Ability to engage effectively with vulnerable adults and families
Strong organisational and time management abilities

 Additional Information
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required
Hybrid and flexible working across multiple locations
Participation in duty rotas and occasional out-of-hours work may be required
