Finance Business Partner for a
6-month temporary contract, with an immediate start preferred.
Applicants are kindly asked to include salary expectations and earliest availability when applying.The Role: We are looking for a pragmatic and proactive Finance Business Partner to deliver high-quality financial support across a range of services. This role requires building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, influencing decision-making, and driving financial performance in a fast-paced public sector environment. You’ll need to be just as comfortable challenging the status quo as you are rolling up your sleeves to help meet key deadlines.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive financial and management accounting support, including budgeting, forecasting, monitoring, and final accounts preparation.
- Deliver clear, evidence-based financial advice to service leads and senior management on the impact of operational and strategic decisions.
- Support budget holders through meaningful financial analysis, challenging assumptions where needed, and promoting a value-for-money culture.
- Work collaboratively across services to ensure the effective management of resources, identifying risks and opportunities early.
- Prepare and submit financial returns and statistical data to government bodies and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives, business case development, and funding bid submissions.
- Stay ahead of changes in financial regulations, ensuring compliance and supporting the authority’s commitment to strong governance.
Candidate Profile:
- Fully qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent) preferred; strong candidates with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Strong technical knowledge of local authority finance regulations, including CIPFA Codes of Practice.
- Proven track record advising senior leadership on complex financial matters.
- Comfortable navigating competing priorities and working under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- High proficiency in financial systems, Excel modelling, and MS Office applications.
- An ability to influence and constructively challenge stakeholders at all levels.
- A collaborative team player who builds trusted partnerships across an organisation.
