I am currently working with a well established Building Envelope contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Façade Designer to join their growing technical team based in Cardiff.

This is an excellent opportunity for a designer who wants to be heavily involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, from pre-construction design development through to construction and final handover. The successful candidate will play a key role within the project team, working closely with internal departments, architects and clients to ensure the façade design meets both the architectural intent and project scope.

Key Responsibilities

Produce detailed façade design drawings and specifications

*

Prepare 2D and 3D models, sketches and technical drawings to demonstrate design concepts, technical solutions and installation details

*

Develop fabrication drawings ready for the procurement and manufacturing stages

*

Compile handover documentation including O&M manuals at project completion

*

Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and internal project teams to ensure correct documentation flow

*

Carry out design risk assessments alongside the wider project team

*

Attend design meetings, workshops and site visits to review progress and resolve design challenges

*

Work alongside project engineers to ensure structural calculations and design validations are in place

*

Ensure façade systems comply with building regulations, industry standards and relevant technical guidance

Requirements

*

Experience working as a Façade Designer / Cladding Designer / Building Envelope Designer

*

Background in façade, cladding, curtain walling or building envelope systems

*

Strong experience producing technical drawings and design documentation

*

Ability to work collaboratively with architects, engineers and project delivery teams

*

Knowledge of UK building regulations and façade industry standards
